Welcome to Room 612!
I would like to welcome you and your child to our classroom. We are going to have a very busy and productive year, filled with fun learning opportunities and school events. Your child is a part of the Tanzanite team. We will have several team events over the course of the year.
It is my belief that positive interactions between teacher and parent strengthen the feeling of support all children need for success in school. My goal is to create an atmosphere of open communication regarding your child’s progress and behavior in both home and school.
Your child should bring home their planner every day. This planner is where students will record their homework daily and I will stamp my last name if they have recorded the assignment correctly. It is important to check your child’s planner each day after they have completed their work and shown it to you. You should also check the bottom of their planners to see if there are any notes from teachers, as this is a vital component of school-home communication.
Parents are the key to making homework a positive experience for their children. I ask that you make homework a top priority at home, providing a quiet environment, a set time, and necessary supplies. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am confident that if we work together, your child will have a successful school year. I look forward to working with you this year.
If your child feels like they need additional help on a topic, please send them in for tutoring. I offer tutoring on Tuesday mornings at 7:15. It is important that students arrive at 7:15 so that I have time to work with them before school begins. Remind your child that they need a purpose when they come for tutoring (ex. grammar, reading strategies, etc.).
I'm looking forward to a wonderful year with your children!
